Affiliate disclosure

An affiliate link is a link that can allow a publisher to receive a commission when a reader follows it and goes on to make a qualifying purchase. Depending on the programme, this doesn't normally change the price the reader pays — though that isn't a guarantee we can make for every possible arrangement we might use in future, so it's worth checking a specific offer if you're ever unsure. Following or using a link like this is always optional; nothing on this site requires you to.

Clean Surface Lab currently has no active affiliate links. Guides and equipment pages published today should not be read as containing paid affiliate recommendations, because none exist yet. If that changes, this disclosure will be updated to reflect it.

When affiliate links are in use, we intend to make commercial or affiliate links identifiable to readers, and to include an appropriate disclosure on any page where that's needed — this page sets out the general policy, but it isn't a substitute for a clear signal on the page itself where one is required. Exactly what that signal looks like will depend on where it appears, and we'll document it here once it exists.

A future affiliate relationship won't determine the evidence label applied to a product, and it won't turn a product into a recommendation on its own. It won't be used to justify recommending a more expensive machine when a reader's problem doesn't call for one. Whether something is genuinely useful and fits the reader's situation is decided separately from whether a commercial link exists for it — the same principles set out in our Editorial policy and How we assess apply regardless.

Mentioning a specific product, manufacturer or machine doesn't by itself mean a commercial relationship exists. Equally, the absence of an affiliate link shouldn't be read as either a positive or a negative judgement on a product — plenty of what we mention has no commercial link attached at all.

If we activate or change any commercial relationship relevant to what's published here, we'll update this page to reflect it. We're not committing to a fixed review schedule, and we won't maintain a permanent, exhaustive list of every merchant we might ever work with — the position stated above is accurate as things stand, and this is the page to check for the current picture.
